After coming across a property listing for a house in Surrey going for a whopping price tag of £30M, we decided to investigate where the highest average price of properties to buy and rent were in the UK. Unsurprisingly, many were to be found in London but a few, as we've highlighted below, were further afield.

Drilling down deeper, the top 10 sales prices for postcode districts feature many of London's most popular areas: Buckingham Gate (£5,699,033), Knightsbridge (£5,095,290) Guildhall (£5,000,000), Belgravia (£4,792,854), Portland Street (£4,787,500), Mayfair North (£4,623,025), Monument (£4,446,983), Mayfair South (£4,416,051), Whitehall (£4,374,500) and Kensington (£3,201,227).

Finally, we've looked at which postcode districts for average rental price appear in the top 10: Buckingham Gate (£6,766 PCM), Virginia Water (£5,577 PCM), Petworth (£5,363 PCM), Knightsbridge (£4,576 PCM), Ham (£4,089 PCM), Cobham (£3,934 PCM), New Oxford Street (£3,766 PCM), Barnes (£3,730 PCM), Ascot (£3,670 PCM) and Mayfair North (£3,640 PCM).
