TwentyCi's attendance at The Movers & Storers Show 2017

Written by Rhiana Duckett | Dec 15, 2020 11:11:00 AM

Earlier this month, we exhibited at The Movers and Storers Show with Matt Hawkins and Sue Schonberger representing TwentyCi. We catch up with our team to find out more about this year's event.

Tell us a bit about this year’s event?

Sue: This year's event was based in Bruntingthorpe in Hangar 42 again, over two days on the 8th and 9th November.

Matt: As well as all the exhibitors, there were various presentations over the course of the event and the usual competitions such as Packer of the Year and Britain's Strongest Removalist.

Did you manage to see many presentations? Which was the stand out from the day for you?

Matt: Unfortunately I didn't manage to see any this year, the stand was constantly busy which was great for us, so that kept me occupied!

Sue: I went to see our Planning Director Danny Crowe's presentation about the UK housing market and our Q3 quarterly data report. It was really well attended and we had lots of positive feedback which was great. We had a lot of follow ups about the rental market information in particular. Some of the key information Danny highlighted was that we're now back to a normal level of buyers at around 100k per month, whereas the renter market shows no signs of slowing. These renters account for 1.3m moves per annum, and account for over 50% of cities across the UK. We're also moving more often in the rental space - which provides more opportunities for Movers & Storers. Other current trends that Danny mentioned include the rise of "Do it for me" culture, the rise of rental products again and growth of online estate agents.

Matt: One of the other presentations about GDPR also sparked a lot of conversations on our stand about our own preparations for May 2018. It was great to hear that our clients are aware and getting themselves prepared.

What was your key takeaway from the event?

Sue: This year there were a lot more new faces than we've seen at these events in the past, as well as a lot of regulars too! We had plenty of really positive new enquiries from the event.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Matt: I missed the radio controlled truck racing that was at the event last year! I was looking out for other fun activities walking around the space - we'll have to bring something of our own next year! But overall a good show, lots of new leads and a great chance to catch up with some of our existing clients.

What’s on your post-conference to do list?

Sue: We've now emailed all of our leads with more information and counts for their areas, and next week we'll follow these up with calls.

What’s the next event you’ll be attending?

Matt: Probably the BAR Conference next May now!
